Anyone having posting problems?

I just got an e-mail from STW saying that she can't post. When she tried to reply to a thread, she got a message that she needed to register. She put in all the info and then got a message that she couldn't post because her computer wasn't accepting cookies. She said she hasn't changed any of her settings. She's wondering whether anyone else is having similar problems.

I hope I got all of those details right!

I don't think so, starrsville!

But is that the sort of message she'd get if she had? It didn't say that she was banned.

Caph52 - Please tell STW to completely shut down her computer, including the modem, if she has one, and try again. If it still doesn't work, have her try again tomorrow. I had this happen awhile ago, and I think it had something to do with my ISP changing its settings. It worked ok the next day though.

You don't get a message that you have been banned. You just can't sign on. There's some kind of message that the screen name is not accepted.

So, when you are banned, you aren't told you are banned. You just can't sign on anymore with that screen name.

The "cookies" message sounds as if there may have an update on her computer and her settings have been changed.

Thanks, guys! I'm assuming she'll be reading this. My impression was that she can read Fodor's, just can't respond.

!!! Well!!! That WAS strange!

I tried and tried and couldn't log in because of my cookies! Now, I haven't a clue what cookies are, lol. I didn't "touch" anything, so I don't really know what happened. But I logged off and washed the kitchen floor and Voila! Here I am!

Thanks for your help,Caph! I'm sure you got a good laugh since I've been complaining about needing a Fodors break and I email you for help. I thought for a moment the Fodor gods were granting my wish. Sadly, I have an addiction.

Thanks for the information on what to do with my cookies, should the information ever be needed.

starrs, When I get banned, I want to go out in style...

A banning message starts out on a friendly vein, "Welcome to Fodors.com", then changes gear without putting the clutch in first...: "Your screen name has been blocked on Fodors.com Travel Talk. Please review the Subscriber Conduct section of our Subscriber's Agreement."

Pretty nifty memory, eh?

Welcome back, STW! As for getting a laugh, you'll notice my resolve isn't very strong either!

I almost wish I had that problem. My house would be a lot cleaner!

LOL, malesherbes!

"I haven't a clue what cookies are..."

I lied. I do know what cookies are...chocolate chip, peanut butter, oreos, fig newtons, and my new favorite, ginger biscuits from Fortnum and Mason! Yummy!

Maybe if my cookies have a problem tomorrow, I could clean out the garage, lol.

bear, I leave the mowing to Mr. STW...

Caph,

Yes, the message is "your screen name has been blocked"

And you can't re-register using Hotmail.
