This might be a silly question but I really don't know. We will be in Manhattan around October 28 and I wonder if we can expect any kind of foliage in Central Park? I'm sooo longing for fall and to get the chance to see any kind of trees changing colors so I'm keeping my fingers crossed;-)

There should still be some leaves on some trees.

The local news just talked about it this week - peak season in NYC is usually mid-November, but the weather has been a bit chilly this week and we are getting some early frosts, AND it was a very wet spring/summer, so color turning could be a bit early this year - late Oct. there should be some color, but not peak.

You're probably a little early - everything is still completely green now - but there may be some changing by the time you get here. (The city is so much warmer than the suburbs that changing typically takes a couple of weeks longer.) If it's not changed enough you can just take MetroNorth an hour north to see some good foliage.

Thanks for your replies! That's a great idea by the way, taking the MetroNorth to get the chance to see some nice foliage. It doesn't take more than an hour to see some "New England foliage"? Although we only have three days in NY, I'd love to do that;-)

Here in the Hudson Valley (about 100 miles north of NYC) we have beautiful color now, not yet peak but lots of gold and some red. Your trip at the end of the month should be a fine time for color, and if Central Park doesn't have the foliage you want an hour or so north on Metro North's Hudson Line will do the trick.

You should see some foliage changing. While someone mentioned above that to get some nice 'true' foliage colors outside of NYC, Central Park is going to be quite nice when you come by.

Keep in mind that the park will also be in the middle of its setup for the NYC marathon at that time too.
