Anniversary on Longboat Key

Can anyone help me with planning a romantic evening for our anniversary in mid May. We will be staying on Longboat Key at the Little Gull Cottages. We are looking for something "special" which would probably include dinner. price is not an overarching concern, but I refuse to be "ripped off". We are in our late 30's and also active. Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Not certain what you're stating with your refusal to be ripped off - these are only restaurants that I've been to and have enjoyed. Euphemia Haye and Harry's (both close to Little Gull) and Cafe on the Bay which is down behind the shopping center.

If you're interested in Sarasota and want anything less expensive write back. Euphemia Hay and Harry's are NOT inexpensive.

LN,

Thanks for the quick reply. When I say "ripped off" I mean that I am not taking a private lear jet to Miami for the evening for dinner. That being said, the restaurants you listed may be nice and I do not mind expensive. I have also heard that the Beach Bistro and Cafe L'europe are nice as well. Any thoughts on those? (I do not mind a 30 -45 min drive if needed). Are there any sunset cruises/charters that I could do before dinner? Thanks again

Cafe L'Europe is wonderful. I've heard great things about Beach Bistro, too. I haven't been lately, but the restaurant at the Colony Resort on Longboat Key used to be wonderful, and it's right on the water.

Highly recommend Ophelia's. Great views from the patio (which in May is still doable), great atmospere combined with great food. Anytime we have a special occasion or have friends/family in town, Ophelia's on Siesta Key is the place for that special dinner.
