Anniversary help: Northeastern resort needed!
My initial thought for our 10th anniversary was to fly to Vail and stay at the RitzCarlton Bachelor Gulch resort but the altitude is a concern as my wife is training for a marathon and I'd hate to screw up her schedule.
Sooo... Looking locally, I'd like a resort that is beyond category. Ocean Edge in Cape Cod seems to fit the bill but it's booked for the weekend we need. Any ideas much appreciated.
Areas of preference are:
Martha's Vineyard
Cape Cod
Nantucket
Vermont
Connecticut
(I have The Eliot Hotel in Boston booked as my fallback).

The Waters Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook CT. may fit the bill.

What sort of price range, and what time of year, and what sort of activities, or just romantic with nice views and good food? more info would help. A couple of ideas for upscale type places: The Wauwinet in Nantucket, The Balsams in northern New Hampshire. Wheatleigh in the Berkshires. ANd, if you're willing to stretch the distance a bit, I absolutely loved Manoir Hovey which is in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, not terribly far from the Vermont border.
