We are booked to stay at the Golden Lion Best Western in Anchorage this June. Just wanted to double check to see if the neighborhood is safe (of course the hotel says it is, and the hotel is AAA rated 2 or 3 star). I know the hotel is not downtown and that's not a big deal.

It's located at 36th Ave and the New Seward Highway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If this hotel dosen't work for you, try the Comfort Inn Ship Creek or the Springhill Suites by Marriott.
We stayed at both of these hotels and they were very nice in nice locations.
