Amelia Island in April?

Hi everyone,
I am considering a trip to Amelia Island April 4-10, and was wondering if the weather then was warm enough for the beach. I have seen average high temps for that month ranging from 76-79 and water temps around 70, but I was looking for anecdotal evidence.

Further south in FL is obviously a safer bet, but red tide situation on the Gulf Coast makes that less appealing, and east coast beach areas -- like Key Biscayne or Palm -- seem pricey. We're already going to Ft. Lauderdale in Oct.

Thanks for any Amelia Island or general Florida advice!
