Amelia Island
I understand there is a "main street" with lots of cute shops etc on Amelia Island. Does anyone know the name and have any suggestions on nice places to stay near that main street?

There are several b&bs along the main street. If you type in Amelia Island on the net, they have a whole web page. We stayed about a mile away on the beach at Elizabeth Pointe Inn. I thought it was one of the nicest inns. Lovely view of ocean, wide beach, lots of porch rockers and it sort of sits off on the beach by itself. They also have a web page. The intown b&bs looked nice, but had no view except for the street. If you check the web page and send an e-mail, the Amelia Island Chamber of Commerce will send you a whole packet of stuff.

The name of the street is Centre Street. There are lots of nice B&B's. Good suggestion to contact the chamber of commerce.
The Fairbanks House is very nice.
There is also the Bailey House, Ash Street Inn, Hoyt House.
There is one hotel downtown and it is a newish Hampton Inn and Suites.

Thanks! Centre Street! I saw a show a while ago and it looked like a cute place to visit but for the life of me I could not remember that darn street name. I will look into what you suggested. I like personal suggestions over what the Chamber of Commerce suggests only because they will usually only suggest their members.

Just wondering how people enjoy Amelia Island Resort. Do you recommend staying at the Amelia Island Resort, or the Ritz Carlton there? We are looking for all the amenities a resort has to offer rather than a B&B or condo. Thanks
