As expected, more wonderful comments! Thank you.

travlingirl-the Yankee tour is at noon so we can't do it Monday. I MUST fit it in if I wish to stay married We're on the same page about Central Park. I have a map.

ellenem-how much time would your plan take (from ferry to Wall St)? I may take travlingirl's advise and inquire about Wednesday night shows, if it wouldn't rush us too much. Then take vttraveler's suggestion of Village/SoHo/Chinatown/Little Italy on Thursday.

vttraveler-The Federal Hall is a great idea, my dose of history. If we "take the walk" on Thursday, will that take up the entire day? Are you familiar with the walking tours? I've read some about them, but think I'd rather strike out alone. I just want to see all I can.

I have never taken any of the formal walking tours of NYC. I would look for a good guide book with suggested walking tours of different neighborhoods so you can explore at your own pace.
Unfortunately I don't have a great recommendation
I used to use a copy of the AIA guide to New York when I lived in the city but this is probably not the best overall for tourists. Maybe someone else can suggest a good choice among the books with walking tours or you could visit a book store and/or library and check out the options.

<<how much time would your plan take (from ferry to Wall St)?>>

I would estimate at least an hour. The walk itself from the ferry along the waterfront to the winter garden, and then across the pedestrian bridge and to St Paul's might actually take 20-30 minutes, but I suspect you'll stop to look at things, take photos, read the displays around the WTC site and such, so I think an hour minimum. Your visit to St Paul's Chapel might add on even more time. If you're just planning to walk along Wall Street and not go inside anyplace, add another 10-15 minutes.

SoHo/Lombardi's: Yes, it is the Spring Street stop.

And if you go, be sure to go to Rice to Riches across the street. 20 different flavors of rice pudding. Even if you are not a big fan of rice pudding, you're sure to find a flavor you like (even if you just get some free tastes).

And yes, the pizza at Lombardi's is the best you'll ever taste anywhere.
