Allegiant Air- good or bad?

I'm planning a quick trip from Las Vegas to Denver in February and I've discovered Allegiant Air. Right now, I can by 2 r/t tickets going into Colorado Springs and out of Ft. Collins for $274.00 total price. My thought was WOW!!! If it stays that cheap, I may visit the family more often!

My question is for anyone who has used Allegiant Air. Is the service good? Are the flights generally on time? Any experiences would be appreciated!

BTW- Flying into Colorado Spgs. and out of Ft. Collins is my choice- the flight prices are the same for a 1 way ticket, round trip, or "open jaw".

I think Allegiant is a charter airline that specializes in package trips, cruise transportation, etc.

If this is indeed the case, expect a very cramped older plane.

Just caught this post, 'cuz I mostly hang out in the Italy group. I flew Allegiant Air from Colorado Springs to Las Vegas the weekend after Thanksgiving. Busiest flying day of the year supposedly. Perfect in every way. Check in at United in COS, plane was on time, new MD-80 2-3 seating. Can't say anything bad at all. Return was also flawless, Friendly crew, on-time leaving Las Vegas. Plane was full going to Vegas, not quite full on return. Allegiant has own check-in in Vegas. Plane was clean, typical seat pitch, etc. Great fares, too!

Thank you so much for the reply! I was thinking a MD-80 should be larger than a charter jet... My trip is coming up in Feb. and I was getting a little nervous. It's good to know there's someone else out there that has flown with them!

We were going to book them for a trip in March (same route) and the fare is a great deal. Went with America West instead though (out of denver) simply because of the flight times. Allegiant only has about 2 flights a day and the pm flight wasn't available on our outbound. I will also definitly consider more quick weekend getaways at those rates!
