Alaska - Toursaver and Itinerary Question
Sorry for posting this twice, I am not sure if this is ending up in the right place!
Message: Hello,
I am leaving for Alaska in about 2 weeks. I just found out about the toursaver book from reading all of your very helpful posts. Is is too late to order one and find it useful?
Also, our intinerary is to fly into Anchorage, drive around for a week concentrating on Kenai and Denali area then head back to Anchroage to catch a Princess cruise in Whittier. We were planning on "winging-it" a little bit like we did in Ireland...you know leaving things flexible for exploring, weather related concerns. Any opinions as to whether or not tours and accomodations will still be crowded at the end of August and 1st week of September?

This is a mistake. You need a route and lodging reservations. Alaska has one of the highest occupancy rates- in season. You will have a difficult time getting something even now. "Lower" season doesn't start until about mid Sept. Lodging isn't clearly seen from driving outside of big towns. You can drive 50 miles with nothing. If you are planning on the shuttle bus in Denali park- again book ahead.

As for the toursaver, there are plenty of used books on EBay, make your list of coupons you want to use so you can see if they are still in the book. Otherwise you can pick one up at Carr's in Anchorage- you can't get out of Anchorage without passing one.
