Alaska Question about costs??
Hi We are leaving for a 2 week trip to Alaska which includeds Anchorage, Seward and Homer. I am wondering what the gas prices are? Also what is an averge price two people will spend on meals in a day? I have heard things are expensive there, and I just want to get an idea of what to expect.
Thanks for any help

I didn't find the food that expensive. I guess it depends on what you want to eat, but a night out for pizza and beer was $20 for 2 of us, and dinner in a nice restaurant was about $50. Certainly there were more expensive places as well, but we didn't try them because the others were just fine!

Um, I usually don't worry about the cost of gas on vacation, but regular unleaded was about $1.54 Anchorage and Kenai. Meal prices vary depending on what you want, Burger King to gourmet, but generally about 25% more than here in Houston. I think I wouldn't worry about it as you will have options.

I agree with the previous posts . . . you will have options. We just finished doing Anchorage, Seward and Homer over the past two weeks. We stocked a styro cooler (major grocery stores located in Anchorage and Soldotna) and ate expensive to cheap.
One reliable place between Homer and Seward was Gwin's Lodge at Cooper Landing. I ate a full dinner there at 2 in the morning (they serve their full menu until two, and then a light menu until breakfast starts).
