Alaska-Fox Island Overnight

Have a question for all you alaskan experts.

Searched for information about Kenai Fjords tours out of seward and got some good information. Now definetly want to do the long tour! However, it seems, unfortunately that the Toursaver 2for1 deal is not valid on the 9.5 hour cruise in 2006 (dont see it on the TourSaver website).

So I'm wondering about the Fox Island overnight on the Kenai Fjords website. This package includes the 9.5 Northwestern fjords tour and an overnight on Fox Island at their "oceanview cabins" & two lunches, one breakfast and one dinner for $329 per person. We have budgeted about $150 a night for hotel and $100 a day for food and the Northwestern Fjords trip is $149 per person. Therefore, if we bought all these items on their own it would budget to around $290 a person. So $329 a person doesnt seem like a bad deal.

Has anyone done this overnight? Would you recommend it-call it a great experience? Or is it not worth it? Also has anyone ever done the optional add-on kayak trip on fox island- and how was it? Anyone know the price?
Sorry about the million questions, but any feedback would be so so helpful! Thanks

Dear Stevie:

I am sorry I can't help as far as the stay on Fox Island. We did the Kenai Fjords tour with lunch at Fox Island which was a great day. I think this will all depend on how much total time you will spend in Seward. If it is only for this one night, I would say don't do it. You'd be stuck on an island and couldn't do any strolling around Seward or have dinner there. If you have other nights in Seward, then it might be an interesting night.

Hopefully, BudgetQueen, an expert on Alaska will respond to your post.

Good luck,

MY
