Alaska Air PFD fare

I have been planning to buy my June 2013 tix from TUS to FAI when AS offers their PFD fares. In researching how to do this, I found an old press release (2006) that said PFD fares not good for travel on Sunday, Monday or Saturday. Of course, that is when I fly in/out! I can only assume that the 2012 rules will be the same.

Does anyone know if general economy fares are cheaper too, during the PFD sale? For those not able to take advantage of it?

I don't know what the PFD fares are, but I think if you have an Alaska Air credit card you can purchase a companion fare for $99. Are you flying with anyone else?

service1010,
you might want to post this and your other post on the
Fodors Air Travel Forum, The link is located above under the "change forum" button

Your earlier post indicated a price of "$1500 a tix". The first thing I pulled up on expedia was $798-leaving June 21 and returning June 28.

It looks like your not much better off from Phoenix(maybe $20 is all). Either way it looks like you are looking at 2 stops going both ways. You can do a 1 stop(into fairbanks-not back from Ketch), it will cost you another $150, but not get you there any faster(provided everything is on time).

Not exactly sure what the PFD sale is, but it was released last year Sept 14.

Thanks for all of your help spirobulldog. Much appreciated. The PFD is when the Alaskans get their 'profit sharing' for living in the State. Many companies, Alaska Air included, run big sales to try to get the citizens to spend their check with them!

I am 3 hrs drive from TUS and 5 from PHX, so unless I save a ton of money, I will leave from Tucson (parking cheaper too!)

Have you booked a trip thru Hipmunk? Do you find their prices better than the others?

I will post to the air travel forum now. Good tip

If you got bonus miles for signing up for the credit card, you can fly TUS to FAI ( one stop each way in Seattle) for $10 and 25,000 miles, RT. Lots of flights available for June.

Hipmunk. I don't get their "agony" thing. How do they know what would work for me. LOL. I don't see any difference in their price. I always check on expedia, etc. Then I almostalways book directly with the carrier.

The biggest screw up I ever had was on a flight from Alaska I had booked on expedia. I actually was removed from the plane. I had a boarding pass, but didn't have a receipt(who does). I had changed schedules and the airline was changed from Delta to Continental. The door was about to shut and here came an agent. This was one of those 1:00am flights(most from ANC are). So, I was stuck at the airport and there wasn't even a cab.

If I ever go back to Alaska, sounds like I need to get one of their CC.

Thanks Enzian. Not sure how using my miles to book a tix is different/better than the companion fare tix. Could you please explain to me?

Companion fare is one at full price, the second at $99.00.

Miles tickets are $10.00 each, if you have the miles ( 25,000 per RT ticket). We went to Alaska this summer and I got everyone (6 people) tickets on our miles for 25,000 each, no matter where they started, as long as it was on one ticket.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I only have enough miles for 1 (I get $26k for the credit card), so looks like 1 full fare tix....
