Hi. I'm driving to a family function in Bowling Green (near Toledo) from Atlanta, taking I-75, and need to pick someone up on the way that will be flying from Boston. I'm wondering if I should fly them to Cincinatti or Dayton- which airport is easier for me to pick them up in, driving from I-75?

It really depends on which flight is better for them and how the timing works out. Either Cincinnati or Dayton airport is right off I-75. Dayton's airport is smaller and probably a tiny bit easier, but either is no problem.

I don't think there's non-stop service from any of the Boston area airport to DAY.

Either is easily accessible from I-75. Dayton may be a little quicker just due to the size difference. Keep in mind the Cincy Airport is actually in Kentucky. Dayton is well north of Dayton, in Vandalia.

It's been a long time since I've been to either but, if memory serves, I think the Cincinnatti airport is a farther distance from I-75 than the Dayton airport. It's not a huge distance but, as others have pointed out, the Dayton airport is a little easier to navigate also.

From I-71/75 to CVG, it's about 4 miles on I-275, then a mile on the access road to terminal.

From I-75 to DAY, it's 1.75 miles on I-70, then 3 miles on access road to terminal.

Basically the same.

But like I said, there's no non-stop flights from the Boston area to DAY. Would one want to take 4-5 hours with a connection to fly to DAY?

Okay, will y'all quit spelling it that way....I am a spelling geek. Cincinnati.That said, we frequently schedule flights for our company from both airports. It never ceases to amaze me how expensive flights are to CVG. So, definitely price them first.

Because it's a Delta hub. Just get the price you can live with to whichever airport. They are equally easy to get to. However, remember that you need to get the person BACK to said airport to leave to go home. So scheduling will be of the essence.
Dayton is 3 hours (someone check me) and Cincy airport will probably be 5 hours from Toledo.

DAY to Bowling Green is just straight up I-75. 125 miles. Unless there's construction, it's 2 hours.

CVG adds about 70 miles and through Cincinnati. So, add about 1:15.

They do, but no nonstops. They either fly through Atlanta (talk about out of the way!) or through Baltimore/Washington.

I was born and raised in Ohio and I never heard anyone ever say anything other than "Cincy," including a whole family line who live/ed in Montgomery in Hamilton Co.

Is now the time to confess that I had to look it up? I lived in Dayton for many years and we kept our boat on the Ohio in "Cincy" -- never heard it called Cinti. I think it's one of the hardest to remember how to spell city names.

The reason I asked is that my husband's company is there and THEY all say Cinti. Drat! My family moved from there when my dad was 10...but all my German and Welsh ancestors settled there in the early 1800's.

Cinti? NOT a chance. NEVER even dreamed of saying that.
And Rkkwan, as one who has driven Dayton to cincy MANY many times, it is more than an hour, and VERY much more to the Cincy airport. From Toledo it's a trek to be calculated, and the traffic is unending.
I really think Dayton is 'way more convenient when considering the return trip too.

Gretchen, did you miss the fact that the poster is driving from Atlanta so will be passing right by either airport (at least on I-75) so it really isn't a matter of which one is closer to Bowling Green? In fact if going north the poster picks up the friend in Cincy, that gives them another couple of hours (almost) to visit as they drive.

No, I didn't miss it at all. My point is that I assume the person has to return to Boston so the return trip is also of some importance--time to leave BG to get to the airport, etc. If it isn't a round trip that THIS person needs to worry about getting the air traveller to the airport, then have whichever you want, BUT the Dayton airport is MUCH more convenient in every way.
IF someone else has to get the traveller to the airport for return, then Dayton is still the better.
