Airport to Manhattan A and Q

Thanks to many of your helpful tips, my two sisters and I recently had a wonderful 4 night visit in NYC. We arrived from diff states and took the Rail Link from EWR into Penn station. It was very easy, and only about $11 each. On the return we took a cab back to EWR because with 3 of us sharing it was only about $7 more, total including the tolls. I now have the chance to return, but will fly into LGA, what the best way to get to Manhattan from LGA? Thanks all.

Best and easiest way to get to Midtown from LGA is a taxi.

Especially during non-rush hour the taxi will be your quickest choice & very reasonable in price. Public transit is limited to buses & are best if only heading for the upper westside. We would often take the bus to go between LGA & Columbia @ 116 & Broadway. A bit longer than a taxi, but @ $1.50 & only carrying a bag that easily fits on my lap, a bargain. When living on the eastside, we would always just grab a taxi.

Cab should be about $25 total (with tip and toll) in average traffic. Fare is metered, not set(as it is from JFK), so if there's a huge traffic jam, it will go up

Taxi will be $25 if heading to midtown west. A dollar or two less if going to the east side, Not so about public transportation only good if going to rthe upper west side. You can take a bus (Q33?) from LGA to the #7 train. #7 will take you to 42nd St - Gr. Central Station, 5th Avenue or Times square.

Why go through all the hassle of a city bus & subway, when for about $11, you can take the Airport Express Bus? Remember, the airport express bus has luggage storage UNDER the bus, so you don't have to lug your suitcase onto the bus. On city buses, there is little room for luggage, and then you have to arry it up and down stairs.

I agree with Anthony, if traveling alone, I'd take the NY Airport Service bus. Stops on Park Ave. right off 42nd St. across from Grand Central or the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 42nd and 8th. Might also be service to 34th and 8th I think. I've taken it with no problems at all.

Go to the following website for information on ground and public transportation options from LGA. I would recommend a shuttle bus service over a cab when comparing price.

http://www.nyairportservice.com/ and the fare is $16 round trip if you book in advance on website.

It offers free transfer to many hotels in mid-Manhatten, but you might wish to use a taxi or public transportation instead, once you've arrived at either Grand Central or PA Bus Terminal, as there can be MANY stops & traffic.
