Airport Alternatives/Augusta, GA

My apolgies if this is a duplicate but my first attempt didnt seem to post. We are planning a trip to Augusta, Ga for a wedding and finding the flights very expensive. Can anyone suggest alternative airports to fly into and rent a car? I would think anything w/i 3 hours of Augusta would be ok. Thanks for any help.

Atlanta is really the best option. Having family in Augusta myself, I have driven there Route 20 is probably the best way and it's a straight shot, with pretty scenery. I think it's about 3 hours.

Have a great time.

I went to Augusta a couple months ago - flew into Atlanta, rented a car, and drove to Augusta. There are a lot more flights in and out of Atlanta than Augusta and the flights are cheaper. The drive wasn't bad at all, even though we hit the road during the evenning commute. Once we got out of Atlanta, it was smooth sailing all the way down I20.

Actually, if you click on your name, you will see your earlier post. If you have time, Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle is a great stop for lunch. Travel time to Augusta from Atlanta airport is 2-1/2 hours (you may want to consider I-285 if it's rush hour).
