You are posting a lot this morning.
One suggestion - Stop using all capital letters. That is considering SHOUTING when you are online.
There are different boards and you are posting Venice and Rome questions on the US board. Look at the top of the page to see what Forum you are in - and switch to the appropriate one.
Ask US questions on the US board, Europe questions on the Europe board, etc.

That far out, it's really impossible to answer your questions since there can be so many intervening variables. I would periodically check kayak.com and see what the price trends look like. Then check specific airlines for sales. If there are any sales for next May, you're probably not going to see them until late winter.

From where in the US are you flying? For May 2008, you can expect to pay anywhere from $700 to $1000 from JFK to Venice, Rome to JFK.
I like www.kayak.com to check fares and flight options. I'd watch prices every couple of weeks starting in the early fall. If you find something for $700 - $800 buy it. It may go down a little, but more than likely it'll go up in price.
