Air conditioning in Maui

We are going to be in Maui in July. We have noticed many hotels and condos do not have air conditioning. Will this be a problem? We are used to very high summer temps and are a little worried about being too hot, espeically at night for sleeping. Can anyone put our fears to rest?

there were fans in the places i stayed, it was okay but more humid and that was a little disappointing not having a/c. i was able to sleep but it was oct. not sure how much of a temp change.... maybe almost none? i have to admit i would have preferred a/c. hotels tend to have the a/c, the condos not so much.

Don't even consider any place without air conditioning in Maui!.. It's like no heat in Boston! It tells you all you need to know about the overall quality of a place. Actually, very few places on Maui do not have air conditioning. When it's 86 degrees, a fan will not cool you.

It depends on a lot of things--where you are, what kind of cross-ventilation there is and your personal tolerance. We have A/C, but we have seriously only used it twice in the past year. We face the beach and have many large windows, that when open creat a lovely open feel and allow the trades to blow through, cooling the house. Our place is well constructed too--we often are surprised at how much warmer it is outside than it is in our place.

I can't hink of a single friend of ours who runs A/C, except maybe on those rare days when the trades are down. We tend to throw open our windows and let nature do it's thing. It has gotten so I can't stand it when I go into a shop and the A/C is blaring.

We were in Maui last June and stayed in a Condo w/o AC. Our condo had windows that allowed for cross-breezes and it had ceiling fans. We were very comfortable. We come from the Colorado foothills so we're not really accustomed to high temps.

Where are you staying? We just got back from Maui and stayed at the Hyatt. It had a/c in the rooms. It wasn't that bad at night anyway. There was a lot of the time that we kept our patio door open until late!! Hope you have fun! I'm ready to go back but maybe hit the big island this time. Make sure you eat some Ono fish while you're there.Yum!!
