Adirondacks or Finger Lakes first?
Should we see Adirondacks or Finger Lakes first when we fly into Albany Sept 19, Saturday? We will be in New York until October 6, and want see these 2 areas as well as Berkshires in Western Mass. We are coming to see Fall colors, mountains, lakes, quaint small towns, local attractions, etc. How can we route our trip to maximize seeing fall colors at their best?
Thanks for any advice. This is our first trip to this part of New York, have been to West NY to see Niagra Falls, so sticking with Finger Lakes and Adirondacks.

Unfortunately, your trip is a bit early for fall colors. The Finger Lakes and Bershires will still be green then. Your best bet would be to see those areas first and save the Adirondacks for the end of your trip because there might be some color there in early October, depending on where you go. There are web sites that track the fall changes. I don't know them off-hand, but if you do a search on this forum, you will find threads where the sites have been posted.
