Activities for young kids in Las Vegas
I am going to be traveling to Las Vegas this weekend for a birthday celebration with my husband's family. I will have two children with me (an infant and my older son who will be 3 in a month). I was planning to spend a lot of time with them at the pool, but it looks like it may not be warm enough for that.
Does anyone have any suggestions for activites for the almost-3 year old (since the infant couldn't care less where he is!)? We're staying at the Mirage and I was thinking about the dolphin and tiger habitats at the Mirage which is where we're staying.
Also considering the Bellagio fountains and TI pirate show.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thank you!

The things you mention are fine but the pirate show could be a little noisy for a baby and even toddler. It also gets very crowded. ALso, the is a decent shark acquarium at the Mandalay bay. In the Forum shops there are these lazor type shows with statues that are flashy. Mariage also has the erupting volcano every night.

Pirate show gets crowded early. Unless somebody can keep the child on his shoulders he won't see anything.
Take him to see the volcano, but explain what to expect so he won't get scared. Don't miss the white tiger inside of the Mirage.
Moving statues at Caesar's maybe interesting for a child.
Flamingo is a must! The arboretum inside (free) has penguins, pink flamingos, all kind of birds and fishes, nice area to hang out with a child.
Fountains at Bellagio - beautiful at daytime. Circus at Circus Circus, did not see it in Vegas, but in Reno my children liked it.

I second the aquarium at Mandaly Bay. I took my then 4yr old there two yrs ago and she really loved it. Children can touch some of the sea creatures.
One word of advice, don't take your son to see the statues at Ceasars Forum. I took my daughter there when she was 3yrs old. When the show starts huge crowds form. We were in the front. As soon as the one statue started spewing fire and shouting, my daughter went nuts! Unfortunately, we were packed in so close by the crowd I could not move, she nearly climbed over my head. It can be a very frightening show for small children.

Thanks everyone! We had a wonderful time, despite the tiger and dolphin habitats at the Mirage being closed the whole time to my EXTREME annoyance. We visited the TI pool each morning and my son just loved it. (Apparently it got completely overcrowded in the afternoon with all the Mirage refugees, though)
The Mandalay Bay aquarium was a big hit. He also really enjoyed the gondola ride in the Venetian (didn't see that one coming!)
He also liked the flamingos and dolphins at the Flamingo and the lion habitat and the MGM Grand. The Rainforest Cafe in the MGM also went over well.
Our room overlooked the volcano at te Mirage so he got to see it a bunch at night and really liked it.
And, of course, he loved FAO Shwarz in the Forum shops!
You were all right about the TI pirate show - he was terrified and we left early.
Thanks again for all your suggestions!
PS - I will NEVER stay at the Mirage again because they never informed us regarding their pool and dolphin/tiger habitats were closed. They knew that our group had several children - we booked 5 standard rooms and a two bedroom suite. The pool and habitats are the only attractions for children at the hotel. To spend that much money and not to have been informed of these closings was completely unacceptable. I really think the Mirage is an awful hotel - very poor service, HORRIBLE indoor air quality, and quite unattractive generally. There are so many nicer places to stay - why bother with a crummy one?
