Activites/Siesta Key

My Wife and I and another couple are spending a week in Siesta Key. The Women are sun lovers and will spend their time on the beech. Any suggestions as to what us old men can do? We will have a car
Thanks

A tremendous amount of golf/tennis, if that is your bag. Downtown is a great area...there is a really great hole-in-the-wall used bookstore. You should know that Siesta Key is beautiful, but is not a place you should go if you really want "to do" a lot of things. Maninly great for sunning/dinners out/walking. Of course you could always explore Tampa, St. Pete, and/or Clearwater if you've never been. Have a great time and enjoy the sunsets...

If the beach is not your thing (and Siesta is one of the best in the world!), you can explore Sarasta...Ringling Museum and the newly restored Ringling house...The Mote Aquarium, shoping on St. Armand's Circle...countless world class golf courses...check out the high end model homes at Lakewood Ranch and University Park, see some live theater at the Tampa Center for Performing Arts or the Acquarium of Florida in Tampa...go up to Orlando, or Bush Gardens (Tampa) or even go over to Cape Kennedy...(2 hours or so)...and there are thousands of great restaurants to try...there are some tennis courts right at Siesta Beach if you are into tennis...and there is some shade at the back of the beach...

You could rent a boat for the afternoon or the day and tour around a bit. There are different rental companies; right at Stickney Point or also on the mainlaind at the marina. (The women will probably want to come with you though!) And yes, golf is the favorite pastime there.

Another thought: years ago we used to go to the dog races, not sure when they are racing now. Also, you may find Mote Marine interesting.
