In Tampa now...next stop?
I'm just finishing a week in Tampa and have another week in Florida. I was thinking to stay on the west coast an either go to Naples or Sarasota...any suggestions? I will need to return to Tampa for my departing flight back home.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sarasota--it's an hour south vs. 3 hours to Naples and offers much more in the way of arts if that's an interest. We have the Ringling Museum, Asolo state theatre and the Van Wezel not mention our beautiful beaches. If you want upscale the Ritz is central to everything and guests can use their beach club on Lido Beach. If you want lots of unique shopping and dining options stay near St. Armand's on Lido Key. Downtown Sarasota has many restaurants as well as upscale to quirky boutiques. Siesta Key has the most beautiful beach in Florida and lots of beach bars, funky shops and restaurants. If you want more of a low key beach experience I recommend Longboat Key. It's an older crowd and very much a resort area.

Thanks all for the suggestions. When I return to FL, I'll have to check out all the great places you suggested in the Sarasota area.
In the end, I drove the 2 1/2 hours to Naples and absolutely loved it. The main part of town called Old Naples was delightful. So many good dining choices. The beach was great -- as were the fantastic sunsets. I took a room at the Bayfront on 5th for its proximity to the downtown area rather than on the busier main road, I 41 where I'm sure prices would have been cheaper. Remember to always re-check the hotels website before you check-in. I did and saw they were running a manager's special which I asked for and received.
I did rent a bicycle and took long extended rides down Gulfstream and Gordon roads which were magnificent. The homes, or shall I say mansions were breathtaking to look at.
All in all, a great choice for me.
