Acadia Carriage Rides--Which One To Do?

We want to do a Carriage Ride. Nearly positive we want to do one of the 2 hour rides.
I think I want to do the Bridge Tour. I am debating this over the Summit Tour.

The Summit Tour is only available at 4:00PM. The Bridge Tour is available at 10:00AM or 2:00PM. I'm thinking the 2:00PM tour just in case fog might be an issue in the morning.
This will be the 3rd weekend in October. I have my fingers crossed for Fall Colors to be at peak. This seems to be the case for the Bar Harbor area, as best as anyone can guess.

I've never done the carriage ride, so no opinion on which route is better, but I might choose 4pm because of the late afternoon light.

well, I can;t compare them, but I did the summit tour and it was a lot of fun. the views were great. we did it close to sunset, and the late afternoon light was nice for pictures, for the most part, though it was a bit shady when we were in the wooded part of the ride.

I can't compare the two tours either, but we just did 2pm bridge tour with Wildwood Stables (it was nice to sit after doing a morning of hiking). I got some really nice pictures from below the bridge with the stream running under it. The foliage should be lovely by the time you go. Lucky!!

Well, the sun is likely to set in late October at 5:30-5:45.

Where will you be on a tour that starts at 4:00? At the summit or on the way back?

I have done the bridge tour. I chose that tour because my 78 year old mother was traveling with us and I wanted her to see some of the carriage roads and bridges. It was pleasant enough, but if you could bike or hike to see the bridges I think it would be even more enjoyable to be honest. The National Park System has a map with the carriage roads and the bridges are the stars on the map. There are probably even better maps available. We had a great hiking map that I bought online.

We just drove to the summit of Cadillac Mountain and just walked up the rest of the way.

I recommend a kayak trip on Frenchman's Bay, particularly around the Porcupine Islands. We went with AquaTerra Adventures and it was one of the highlights of our trip. http://www.aquaterra-adventures.com/

On the bridge tour, part of the carraige road is off limits to bicycles.

I agree with getting a map. You can pick one up at the visitors center either before or after the Trenton bridge.

We did the bridge tour as well. One of the best parts was our driver/guide. He was born in a lumber camp during the Hurricane of 1938 and was full of great stories about Acadia and all things Maine.

Thanks. Anyone else. Would be nice if someone had done both, although usually the one a person has done first sticks in their mind as "best".
