Frankly, I'd still like to hear the reasons why he/they wish to move to the US because i suspect he/they think things are "better" here..depends on what "things" he/they have in mind..the reality might be a bit shocking.
However, given the prominent absence of the original poster from the string perhaps it was all just troll posting anyway.

OK, I will undoubtely be flamed for this but you should move to Los Angeles (everyone should live here at least once). LA has a gigantic ex-pat British community with access to many resources/Jobs housing, VISA info etc. Most people I know from the UK move to LA because of the weather.. they tend to gather around the beach communities of Santa Monica and Venice.
Of course the housing prices are through the roof, the traffic is lousy and some of the people who come to LA from other states to "make it in acting or music" are definately weird... but if nothing else, it is the polar opposite of any place I've ever been to in the UK and I've been to your amazing country dozens of times..
We are a state with an enormous immigrant population.
If you arrive here, just rent a convertable, drive down Sunset blvd., during sunset on a summer evening, pay a ridiculous fee to park your car at the beach and then go into the Kings Head in Santa Monica.. IMHO you would just love it... maybe for only 6 months but you'd love it just the same!
That being said, all states have something to offer everyone on some level!

How easy it seems for you to come to the U.S. and live! My son graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a four-year philosophy degree. He came home, worked for a bit, and then realized that his heart was in the highlands. But you Brits will not let him come back for any longer than a visit because he is not permitted to work in your country unless he's sponsored. He yearns for Scotland the way you yearn for the U.S. How about a trade?
