Mina, you are totally off-base about using Priceline for airline tickets. As soon as you buy the ticket through Priceline, you are now a customer of the airline. In fact, the airline has already set a price with Priceline for the ticket, and is receiving the majority of the money of the winning bid as long as the bidder does not overbid. Also, Priceline sends you an email reminder a week or so before the flight with all the information as to what to do if your flight is cancelled or delayed. The information clearly says to contact the airline directly.

Because you have either a paper ticket or e-ticket, the airline is obligated to get you to your destination, whether it be on the scheduled flight or the next scheduled flight. Also, if you get bumped you are given the same priviledges as any other customer. I know because this happened to me on an Air Canada flight where I volunteered to be bumped. In fact, the reservationist had no idea that I bought a Priceline ticket, and I was even credited with miles to my frequent flyer account. This happens rarely, but it does happen.

The only difference between a Priceline ticket and a regular restricted ticket is, is that if you decide not to make the trip with a Priceline ticket, you take a total loss. With a restricted ticket, you'll probably just have a $200 penalty.

You also don't need to go to court to fight Priceline. Just call your credit card company and contest the charges. The error Tom spoke of was a computer glitch. Although frustrating, he resolved the problem a long time ago.
