Bonnie, the Russian Tea Room is now CLOSED.

If you still want Russian Food, an alternative to consider is Firebird on Restaurant Row (46th bet. 8th & 9th).

Since you are without hubbys, you can indulge a little, and Veniero's is just the place. All the goodies you could want, you gain a pound just walking in the door but oh the pasteries are so worth it. Alot of restaurants in the city serve Veniero's for desert.

It's on the east side 12th St and 1st Ave. Or if you are in Little Italy, Ferrara's is also great.

Toni-- EVERY time we go to NY, we eat in Le Bernardin--It is fabulous and right near the Warwick!! French seafood-expensive but worth it!

and Mesa Grill was fun and fabulous!
The mix of flavors was awesome-would definitely go again!!!

DEFINITELY try these 2 places!

Try Grimaldi's Pizza underneath the Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn side).

Another vote for Red Eye Grill...most fun I've ever had in an NYC restaurant...expensive, for sure...but the food was wonderful and the atmosphere lively.

Incidentally, we made reservations 3 nights before for a table of 8....hmmmm...I guess we got lucky

Sushi Samba on 7th is great. I second that suggestion. Also, Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center is terrific. They make frozen Pomegranite Margaritas that will knock you flat out.

I second Zarela's. One of the best Mexican places in the city and they definately have the best margaritas in town.

And, yes, I've had the ones at Mesa Grill.

I was not impressed by Mesa Grill. Too cramp. Not special. Prefer Rosa Mexicano (Columbus Ave./62nd) and Zarelas's. Love the atmosphere at Zarela's.

If we're sending people to Mexican places now for their fun, another vote for Zarela's. Rosa Mexicano (the East Side one is best) has wonderful food & guacamole, but I like being at Zarela better, and think it is warmer and more NY neighborhood-y.
