A free day in San Francisco area
I am going to Sonoma this weekend for work but have Monday free before my flight home in the evening. I need to be at SF international airport for about 4:30pm. I want to make the most of my time and can’t really decide what to do. I’d love to see the city but have a car and parking sounds difficult. Wine tours are a no as I’ve got to drive. I looked at Alcatraz but it’s fully booked so thought maybe just going for a walk and lazy lunch around Golden Gate Park? Any suggestions about how to make the most of my time?

Drive in to the park and park at the Academy of Science. From that one point you can walk in any direction -- to the De Young, and/or visit the academy, and/or the Japanese Tea Garden, and/or the the Botanic Garden and/or Stow Lake

Just to update this as it was outrageously hot on Monday and I didn’t fancy heading into the city. I went to Point Reyes National Seashore and walked a few miles, saw a herd of tule elk up close as well as some deer. I had a fabulous lunch at the Station House Cafe in Point Reyes Station and then drove to the airport via the panoramic highway from Stinson Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge viewing point. Cracking day, thanks for the suggestions and I hope to go back and explore the city one day.
