My husband and I are taking our two sons and their wives to WDW in Fl the end of March or early April. We want to stay on Disney property this time. Our two sons and us have been there before - the last time in 1997 and we have not stay on Disney property in the past. We want to use the monorail to get to most places. We want a motel that would not be full of children, has a nice pool, easy access to WDW, Universal, MK, Epcot, etc. We like jazz, light shows, eating and maybe going our own way part of the time. We will be staying a week. We want it relaxing and pkg. deal info would help too. Any help would be appreciated.

You will not find any hotel near WDW that doesn't have kids. I would go for the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Contemporary. All of these are directly on the monorail and are the easiest to navigate around. Grand Floridian is the best Disney Hotel period.

I like the Grand Floridian and if you simply HAVE to be on the monorail I would agre with using it.

However, if you'd like to be somewhat away from kids..is that actually possible?????..you might consider the Yacht and Beach which has a MUCH better pool than the Grand Floridian IMO.

As a huge Disney fan (Nut is more like it) I have to say you should look at the pricing before you go. The big Three hotels on the Monorail can be pricey. But this can be ok if your into the amenities they provide.

I stayed in the Grand Floridian just last August and it was awesome. 10 minutes and your in the Magic Kindgom. And 20 or so and your in Epcot, both by monorail. But Animal Kingdom and MGM (Or Disney's Hollywood Studios if you go after Jan 1 2008) are still bus rides away.

Take a look at the prices. You can opt for slightly less and go with the Boardwalk,Yacht and Beach Club, Swan or Dolphin. They still have fun ways to get into the parks. These hotels have a boat that takes you to MGM, and one that takes you to the rear entrance of Epcot (Called the International Gateway). But you still need to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

So ask yourself, where are you going to spend more time, Epcot or Magic Kingdom. Say Epcot and stay in the Boardwalk/Yacht & Beach Club/Swan & Dolphin. Say Magic Kingdom and stay in one of the three big hotels on the monorail ring.

Now for Seaworld, Universal and all other points outside Disney, your going to need a car.So if your really into going to these other parks, consider a rental car. Or save the money and use Magic Express a service that takes you from your flight to your room.

I would suggest looking at allearsnet.com (there are pictures of all the resorts as well as reviews) or intercot.com for discussion boards and tons of info on WDW.

The Swan and Dolphin tend to have less children than a lot of the other hotels. While they are on site at WDW, they are not Disney hotels. THey are walking distance from the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM.
Great pools, nice rooms and Heavenly beds! They also have discounts for teachers,nurses and government employees.

Good luck finding a place "on Disney property...that would not be full of children".

Disney - all of Disney - even the most expensive hotels and restaurants - is crawling with - well crawlers. (We had dinner one night at the Grand Floridian - at 9 pm - and tiny kids were still everywhere, some, naturally, screaming.)

If it's just adults and you want as few kids as possible suggest you stay at one of the deluxe hotels off site. There will be some kids - but many fewer.

We usually stay at the Hyatt Grand Cyprus - which is a resort with golf and a nice pool complex. About 15 minutes to Disney by car.

Don't forget that Easter 2008 is the end of March. The entire Disney / Universal area will be very crowded then and room rates will be higher.

Agree that you're not likely to find many places that don't have a lot of kids. We stayed at the Polynesian and thoroughly enjoyed it. Might suggest you look into the concierge level (might do this at any hotel you're considering). We found it much quieter and while more expensive, we thought it a pretty good value since the price includes a nice buffet breakfast, snacks throughout the day, and wine/beer and appetizers in the early evening. The lobby area had floor to ceiling windows with direct views over the lake of the fireworks at night. Being on the monorail was definitely worth it.
