40th Birthday Suggestions
Hi,
I'm turning 40 in mid-October and a friend and I would like to take a trip. Anywhere in the continental US except for California or NYC.
Does anyone know of any interesting festivals or events? We aren't interested in pumpkin fests, turning leaves, apple fests or B&Bs. Sports or drinking related events would be fun. Something different, but not kinky.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Elizabeth

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the first week in October - http://www.balloonfiesta.com . If you want to go, find a place to stay as soon as possible.

I don't know what your idea of kinky is but these are my ideas. My mother and father go every year and they are in their 70s and pretty conservative.
Fantesy Fest in Key West (October 19-28)

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Or you could combine the two. A lot of fun.

Baltimore's Fells Point Festival is October 6-7. It draws big crowds for its street-fest activities.
Here's a website with descriptions of a bunch of festivals in the Chesapeake Bay area in October:
