3 day trip to richmond, va with a 6 year old

My husband and I will be visiting in Chesterfield, VA for a 4 day weekend with my 6 year old grandson. What ideas do you have for us to visit with him? A great park?
A fun restaurant? Any ideas in any category are welcomed.

King's Dominion amusement park is just nort of the city of Richmond at the junction of I95 and I295.

My granddaughters loved the Children's Museum on Broad St in Richmond, but he may be a little old for it.

The Virginia Historical Society Museum on Boulevard is not a dry, glass case museum, but a series of exhibits of how people lived during the history of the Commonwealth, with a trolley car, rooms from houses and so on. It is free, so you can stay as long or as briefly as you want.

Two doors down is the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which has great collections and is a good introduction to museums since it is also free, allowing you just to stay a little while without feeling guilty. There is a garden and waterfall built on the parking garage, and our girls, 4 and 8, can amuse themselves for a long time.

Maymont Park has a small petting zoo and some wildlife -- buffalo, deer, bears, raccoons, etc -- and enough hills to run off a lot of energy. Near the mansion (open to the public) is a terrific water feature.

On your side of the river is Pocahontas State Park with a lake and zoo, but we haven't been there because it is a bit out of our range.

Acki gave some great recommendations....The Children's Museum and Maymont are both terrific.
