2 Hotels for San Diego

Please help - I am trying to plan a trip to San Diego early next summer. I want a nice
quiet luxury hotel for the 1st 3 days then move on the something in Coronado and some sightseeing. Looking at Rancho Bernardo, FS Aviara or the Ritz. Which do you suggest? Money is somewhat of a factor. I don't want to spend a huge amount.
Thanks.

The Ritz is pretty close to LA, not in SD, and rarely drops below $300 per night.
The FS is great, also north of SD a bit in Carlsbad. Not on the ocean, though.
Haven't been to RBI.

I would try Priceline for the first three nights, then use the money you saved to splurge on a place on Coronado.

Start at http://www.biddingfortravel.com and see what kinds of nice hotels people are getting in San Diego.

I don't think you get the idea Andrew.
The first three nights WOULD BE the splurge.
The three hotels mentioned are far nicer than anything on Coronado (Loews, Marriott, Del).

The Aviara is wonderful but 30 minutes from San Diego. The Westgate is beautiful and in downtown San Diego.

Rancho Bernardo Inn is very nice, great staff and can often be found on expedia.com. However, it is pretty far from anything if you want to do some sightseeing. If you're looking to hang out poolside, play tennis or golf, this is a great place. 4S and the Ritz are newer.

I would stay somewhere closer to the coast unless you are a big golfer. My choice for a quiet, luxury hotel, if you just want to relax at the hotel, would be the FS Aviara or La Costa Resort & Spa.
