Are you bringing your own car and kayak? There is a nice place to launch a kayak on the NYS Barge Canal (formerly Erie canal) at Fairport or Pittston.

Naples is famous for grape pies.

Letchworth State Park is gorgeous and about 30 miles away ("Grand Canyon of the East")http://www.letchworthpark.com/
Chimney Bluffs State Park(on Lake Ontario, east of Rochester) is scenic and has some nice trails.http://nysparks.com/parks/43/details.aspx
