1st timer to the Cape and MV
Hi,
Would like to plan a long weekend the end of Sept to the Cape. Need some advice/suggestions.
Should we stay in Cape Cod or should we stay on Martha's Vineyard. Would we need our car on MV? If we stay on the Cape is Hyannis a good location? Thanks....

I'm guessing this is your first trip to the Cape & islands so I suggest the Cape this first time around.
Hyannis is in the mid-Cape area so would be ideal for exploring other parts of the Cape from a central location. If you have time you can easily take a ferry to MV from here to check out the Island.
Hyannis is the center of Cape Cod and has tons of restaurants, shopping, museums. parks, beaches, harbor tours, pirate tours, golf, whale watch tours, miniature golf, antique shops, bookstores and gift shops. Did I miss anything? Oh yes, it is wonderful to just drive around and enjoy the wonderful views of Hyannis harbor and Lewis Bay.

This question has come up several times. If you are going late September, the Cape will be relatively free of traffic. There are many, many beautiful places to stay on the Cape, however Hyannis woudn't be my first choice, as it's the most commercialized town on the Cape. The towns along the south shore are generally more commecialized, but even there in late September it will be quiet. Nice towns - Dennis, Chatham, Woods Hole, Wellfleet, and many more. Realize that late Sept is past swimming season, but walking the beaches will still be fun. The National Seashore beaches on the east side of the Cape are quite spectacular and totally undeveloped. As for MV: It is very scenic, one of my favorite places, and it will be even more quiet than the Cape. If you are content to stay around Oak Bluffs and bicycle, you can pedal to Edgartown and Vinyard Haven. You'll need to take a bus to see the rest of the island. I wouldn't bring a car over. For a first time visit, I would explore the Cape - there is so much to see.
