I think 1 day is fine if you want to really just take in the viewpoints at and around Crater Lake, maybe stop in the lodge, and aren't planning any real hikes, etc.

We have never styed at the lodge and always stayed somewhere near Diamond Lake but I do agree the Lodge seemed in need of updating-but I haven't been there for many years before covid even.

It would be a shame not to descend to Crater Lake if you are physically able. Again, Crater Lake is absolutely one of the visual wonders of the USA, second only to the Grand Canyon, so don't cheat yourself out of the experience.

Here's our 2021 trip (link below) that includes Ashland (loved it), Crater Lake (gorgeous), McMinnville (check out the Spruce Goose) the Oregon Coast (wonderful) and No. California Redwoods (Avenue of the Giants). Absolutely loved our hotel in Yachats. Maybe it will help. A million photos.

Well, we have fine tuned our Oregon trip and now just need advice on spending 2 to 3 nights traveling down the beautiful Oregon coast
We have lined the trip up this way;
!st, San Diego to Sacramento for 2 nights. Leaving Sac on the I5, to Hwy 97 at Weed, to Hwy 62 for Prospect.

2nd, 2 nights in Prospect Inn, to spend time at Crater Lake

3rd, On to Bend for 2 nights

4th, On to Hood River with stops Govt Camp, Timberline Lodge, and the Fruit Loop before Hood River for 3 nights

5th, Take the Washington side of the 84 to I5, to the 12, to Aberdeen, Washington for 2 nights, to see Lake Quinault

6th, 3 nights in Astoria

7th plus; this is where I'm questioning myself and want advise seeing the coast.
so far, I'm thinking 1 night in Newport,
1 in Coos Bay and on to Eureka and then back home with one night in Santa Rosa and one or 2 in Paso Robles.
Any more advice would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to cut the Coastal portion short

The WA side is highway 14, not 84. Aberdeen is an awful place to stay, so I suggest finding something in/near Lake Quinault. A friend who was working in Aberdeen for a while commented that he couldn't believe the suicide rate wasn't higher as it was such depressing town, to give you an idea.

I agree-skip Aberdeen. Try for a night in Forks or Port Angeles. One night should be enough for Astoria and maybe you would do well by going to Seaside or Cannon Beach.
Be sure to stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory on your way south (great cheese samples and ice cream) . Just south of Newport, see the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

I think I would spend 2 nights in Astoria and 2 nights in Newport.
Yachats, i bit farther south is also a good place to stay. Check out the Adobe or the Fireside which are next to each other and ocean front. The Adobe has a restaurant.
Devils Elbow State park is my favorite beach ( Also called Heceta Head.) There is a nice trail up to the lighthouse, picnic benchs, the beach is a nice little cove. There is a parking fee.
I would skip Coos Bay and stop in Bandon instead.
