1st Time in New York BABY!!!
I'm heading to New York for the first time and I'm looking to get a taste of the East Coast HipHop scene. Where should I go? What do I have to do?
My wife will be with me, is that going to be a problem?
I'll be in town 06/05 thru 06/09.
Looking for must see's and must do's.
Peace,
EKS

Seriously, I'd check out the Village Voice for better tips on the NY scene:
www.villagevoice.com
That's as good a start as any.

OK...I'm just joking! I luv my wife, who will be with me, but while she'll be doing some shopping with the girls I'd like to go with her cousin and check the hot spots for records, gear, etc. I'm also looking for cool bars and the best Italian food possible.

If you are serious...
The A train to spots near The Apollo is best for some of the clothing that you might have in mind...
Oh, their are also a few stores namely Doctor Jays near Macy's that carries the most and best lines of what you might classify as Hip Hop gear. Bring lots of money. These fashions are not cheap!
I am not sure "a taste" of the East Coast Hip Hop Scene exist...are you looking for a "tour" or "tour guide" who specializes in say: East Coast Hip Hop?
If you are really interested in Easy Coast Hip Hop you would probably already know about the various publications and web sites that are devoted to this. They get ten times the number of "hits" than this good ole TRAVEL SITE called Foders...
New York is loaded with various Hip Hop conferences, communities, professionals, novices, fakes, experts and the like...
I would probably "brush-up" on the real definitiopn of Hip Hop so as not to get tagged as a "winkster".
Winkster is a very common phrase used in the Hip Hop culture, but of course you already know that...
Word.
Oaktown
p.s. I am a long time poster, with a teen in "the industry". My husband and I travel extensively and we also travel to New York (lots) out of parental necessity for the kid and the very serious Hip Hop multi-billion dollar industry that he is a part of.
Holler Back if your search engine fails you.
