$1 airline tickets

Just got an e-mail from frommers that National is offering $1 tickets for Sept 11th, similar to Spirit's sale last week. Might want to check it out

I just tried booking a flight from CHGO to Las Vegas and the price came out to be $347 dollars for round-trip coach flight. Are they jacking up the price of the returns flights?

Melissa,
Just tried the same thing from Chicago. I think the return is completely jacked up in price.
Scam?

Chris-
Maybe so. My husband said the same thing for Spirit but I believe the return trip was only $84. National Airlines shouldn't bother if they are going to be screwing people.

It is hard to believe that anyone would complain about a $347.00 roundtrip between Chicago and Las Vegas. Look at the prices from 5, 10, even 20 years ago. You probably would have paid about the same. Airline ticket price increases are nowhere near the average rate of inflation. Also don’t forget that federal taxes on air tickets can be upwards of 10% of your ticket price – talk to your congressional representative about that.

To those that buy a ticket today, enjoy the low price, as rates will surely increase as more carriers go out of business.

To those who think $173.50 each way is too much to pay for travel between, I suggest you contact Greyhound.

"My husband said the same thing for Spirit but I believe the return trip was only $84."

If I understood correctly, Spirit charged 1/2 price on the regular fare return trip if you returned on a date other than 9/11.

To "Let's get real":

All I was saying is that normally this is a $200 fare. Since they say you are only paying $1 for the flight on September 11th, I would say they are definately jacking up the prices.

The price from Vegas to Seattle wasn't jacked up at all. I paid $1 to Vegas on the 11th and $89 ea. returning on the 14th. $347 does seem high from Chicago but was that for 2 tickets or just one?

I am very happy with my mini trip! Thanks again caroline for posting. I didn't get Frommers email until well after I saw your post and purchased the tickets.

Wendy, glad to hear you got a good deal. The $347 was for 1 person. Have a safe and fun trip!
