Scottish music classes?
Me and my family/friends are taking a group trip to Scotland next June (2008). We will mostly be up in the Highlands and Islands. We are all interested in traditional music, and would love to know if there are any day classes available in music, song, instrument, storytelling, or anything related to this wonderful tradition.
Thanks!

Hi GreenDragon,
I used to live near a public library that had a cultural heritage branch that offered dance classes, so do check your local libraries for programs. Also local colleges might have some information.
Check if your state has a Scots group, ex: New Hampshire has this organization, http://www.nhscot.org/ An organization like this could be helpful in tracking something down for you.
Cheers.

Thanks, scotlib. Actually, I found someone on flyertalk.com (braefoot) who teaches workshops in exactly what I'm looking for - music, song, storytelling, history, etc. - both in a formal and informal setting with ceilidhs
She teaches in Inverness and Skye, two places we'll be going. It's perfect!

Hi GreenDragon,
Before seeing your message, I spent a few minutes searching, (no great investment, ~ 20 minutes) using info. on your web site for location. Perhaps you can still use some of this, especially the notes about games. They are a lot of fun to attend!
Cheers!
