Need destination ideas - Zika free beach for Feb!

Looking for a good beach spot to travel to in Feb/March that is Zika free and direct flight accessible flight from NYC. I’ll be 6 months pregnant and we’ll be with our 3.5 year old. Flight <7 hours ideal. Travel after flight is fine and probably unavoidable.

some ideas we have thrown around : Portugal? Italy? Hawaii is a bit far... Mallorca (2 flights)...

thanks guys!

Feb/Mar is certainly not beach weather in Italy, if you actually want to swim. Better check weather carefully in places you are considering.

Yes I know - I meant to put we prefer beach but are open to non-beach locations too.

Since you are also open to non-beach locations, you might want to include some other interests or criteria. Are you wanting sightseeing or just a place to relax and chill? Cold weather in a city, OK?

Chill and relax would probably be preferable

San Diego, CA might work. Zoo for the little one, beach to walk on and build sand castles, but California does have cold water, so swimming might be out.

Puerto Vallarta is Zika Free!

PUerto Vallarta, Mexico is a great place to go! Many all-Inclusives! We just went (October 2018) to Iberostar Punta Mita with our 6 month old... excellent beach, great food, children’s area was delightful.. no problem with mosquitoes! Many pregnant women there!!
We also stayed in a TripAdvisor “Casa Vista Los Arcos “ 2 bedroom condo on the beach just south of PVR for a week! The owner picked us up at the airport, took us shopping at grocery and Cosco then to the condo! Even though we were 5 minutes south of PVR it was very safe and easy to get to to town. We only went into town 1day... because the beach was so nice! There is a restaurant on the beach also for lunch and breakfast!
We have been all over PVR, north, south and right on the Malecon... always felt safe! Never a problem with mosquitoes! Hope this helps! Ciao!!!!

San Diego has great weather in Feb and March. Ocean water will be cold but the beaches are beautiful and we don't have bugs of any sort to speak of. Lots of stuff for your 3.5 year old (Birch Aquarium, SD Zoo, SD Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Children's Museum, Sea World, visit the beach and explore the tidepools, etc.)

There ARE most definitely mosquitoes in Puerto Vallarta. That is simply not true (#8- just because you did not see them doesn't mean there are none).
