I'm back...In conclusion, my friend owes me $200. I suggested she withdraw the equivalent in GBP when I see her. She has replied that she has a stash of USD from a trip to US and wants to pay me from that. This way she does not incur any transaction fees.

Hmmm, well that's fine if you take the USD back to the USA with you. If on the other hand you exchange them while in the UK, YOU will then lose on the exchange costs.
With it only being $200, it's not a big deal either way but I do think for her to say she doesn't want to incur transaction fees and instead let you perhaps incur an exchange cost, that's being a bit selfish and unfair.
If you will need to exchange the $200 for spending money while there, then I would object to her plan and insist on YOUR plan.
