Is there a way get a specific model of car to rent?

Need to rent a car for a week..done this many times online with good results..
Am moving to "snow" country...Trying to decide on which 4 wheel drive car to purchase...
Narrowed down to RAV 4 or Subaru. So would like to rent RAV4--Local Hertz office cannot guarantee this model.
going to dealership for just a demo drive does not do it for me...I need to test out: city, traffic, hills etc..
ANY suggestions appreciated.
NOTE: moving from California coastal to Eastern Washington...Snow, ice,mud..
You may be wondering WHY !!
ONLY reason...everyone in family has died over last 5 years,Im am now 80 & worried about future "alone"
PLEASE..someone tell me something good/positive about Spokane/ Yakima...trying to keep open mind

I'm afraid the answer to the question in your title is almost certainly "no".

To get input on Spokane/Yakima you would do better to post on the United States board. Best wishes. I suppose Seattle isn't close enough?

No agency can/will guarantee a specific model (unless they only have one model in their entire fleet, which doesn't happen)

Agree, no car rental company can guarantee a particular make/model car.

That doesn't mean you won't be able to rent a RAV4 but rather you just can't be 100% sure you'll get one when you show up.

Now, I've requested a 4WD SUV from Avis, Hertz and Budget several times in the last 4 or 5 years and on each occasion it was a RAV4 with one exception - that's when I got a free upgrade to a BMW SUV.

So, you say you need a rental car for a week. Make the request and hope for the best. Worst case scenario is you don't get a RAV4. But case scenario - you get a RAV4. Either way, you'll still get a rental car so you won't be without your needed transportation.
