I am struggling with ideas of how to organize my travel information for access through my iphone.

I would like to have have a single "index" on the iphone for a trip that would let me with hyperlinks or something easy to manipulate while I am on the trip to get me to:

- websites I found that would seem helpful (for example the website of a museum I plan to visit or a website with a local newspaper or blog)
- Word or pdf documents I have made or have purchased that have other detailed information (for example a list of restaurants I compiled from friends recos or a chapter from a guidebook)

As a plan my trip I organize my information in emails to myself in email folders by countries or cities or such with each email a specific subject that I can search email to find what I want but that doesn't seem all that efficient to use from my iphone.

I would access it either through wifi from the phone at the hotel or another hotspot or through the regular data connection while I am out and about.

If it makes a difference to your suggestion I am from the US but this would be primarily for European travel. And I have (more or less) free data service internationally with Tmobile.

Does the iPhone offer cloud storage? If so just set up a folder in the cloud and add all your information to that.
DH and I both have Windows phones and share such information in a home folder via SkyDrive.
You could even open a SkyDrive or Dropbox account and use that. Then you can add information from your main computer and still access it when travelling.

I use Dropbox and Notes, as well as emailing an itinerary to myself.

Tried Tripit and it was more trouble than it was worth.

But drop box do hang my mobile.

If you have all the information beforehand, you could create your own web page with the info available as hyperlinks. You could also do the same thing with a pdf.

A web page would require one to have WiFi or 3G to access the Internet, though. I have been on trips without Internet access, so I tend to email myself stuff and create Notes with necessary info, because they are always available. Tripit is OK, I use it, but am not in love with it.

I hear ya NewbE but OP said that he would have data.

Open each link on your iPhone and click "Add to Home Screen". Go back to your home screen and make a new "folder" by combining two icons. Add all your links to the new folder. You can also download an app called "iBooks". When you open emails on your phone, you can open PDFs on your iPhone and save them to your iBooks app.

I also just found a cool app called "Food Network On The Go". You can search a certain location and find restaurants around you that have been featured on the food network.

If a website has PDFs I also use iBooks.

And another tip, is to take a photo of maps, guide book pages signs that you might come across while traveling, which you can access without wifi or phone services.

I tend to travel in places where there is not always cell or wifi service, even if I paid for it!

I created documents in Word/Pages, hotlinks and all, to match my mapguide for each city. Each document section matches a map page in the pocket-sized guide. So there's info on places and restaurants in each part of the city, and each page in the mapguide has little post-it flags so I know where places are in relation to each other. Open the docs in Pages on my iPhone--and take the hardcopies. They're only 4-5 pages per city and won't need to carry more than 2 pages each day--that fits in a plastic page protector to be folded into my purse.

Still will have to look for the places, but this'll give a headstart.
