family trip

We’re planning a family trip with our two kids (ages 7 and 10) later this year and could really use some advice. We’d love recommendations for destinations that are family-friendly, have plenty of outdoor activities, and aren’t too stressful to get around. Any suggestions would be super helpful — thanks in advance!

We need a lot more information in order to help you.
Where are you located?
How far are you willing to travel?
What time of year will you be traveling?
What sort of things interest you and your children?

Welcome to Fodor's travel forums. As above we need a little (a lot -haha) more to go on. You don't have to say exactly, but generally, where do you live? Do you want to drive or fly?

Morocco best Destination

I’d really recommend looking into Morocco for your family trip. I’ve been twice already with my kids (ages close to yours) and both times we traveled with a local agency that handled everything for us. It made the whole experience so smooth and stress-free. The country turned out to be much more family-friendly than I expected, with plenty of outdoor activities and easy travel days.

Our children loved exploring the blue streets of Chefchaouen, riding camels in the Sahara, and wandering the lively souks in Marrakech where every corner felt like an adventure. The food is also very kid-friendly, with lots of tagines, grilled meats, and fresh bread, and the locals were always welcoming toward families. Getting around was comfortable because the agency arranged private transport, which took away the stress of long drives with kids.

What stood out for us was the balance: history and culture for the adults, fun and adventure for the kids, and plenty of downtime in riads with courtyards or by a pool. We never felt rushed, and the itineraries were tailored so the kids stayed engaged. Honestly, I’m already thinking about going back for a third time with my family because Morocco is one of those places where each trip feels completely new.

If you want a destination that’s exciting but still manageable with kids, Morocco might surprise you in the best way.

Slovenia is great for families, with lakes, caves, and easy travel. Croatia is another good option with beaches and national parks close together. It would help if you shared a bit more about your plans, like which months you’re traveling and what part of the world you’re considering. That would make it easier to suggest the best destinations.

For a Family Trip, India can be best destination but depending on your residence country, budget and travel distance.

In India, it is easy to plan a weeklong trip or long duration trip of more than 3 weeks very easily.
Choose a place suitable to your needs- Beaches, Heritage Sites, Religious Places, Wildlife Sanctuary

As you mentioned- Plenty of outdoor activities than Manali, Rishikesh, Mumbai and Kerala will be best.
