I'm the same way SeaUrchin.

Books and bathtubs were meant to go together. If only someone would create a bathtub book stand so you don't accidentally dip your book in the bubble bath...

It's more a prop for me. Sometimes I don't even open it. And I never read anything too engrossing or serious on vacation anyway.

Suze, you made me laugh. I pictured you with your prop accidently upside down. Those crazy Americans!!

I do like to buy local magazines such as fashion ones, they don't take any concentration and I can just thumb through and look at the pictures and not lose what is going on around me.

Oh yes, and write in my journal and maybe open a tour guide for the next day.

But I close them all when I start to eat, that is serious business, especially with the wonderful food in Italy!

Well, it *is* funny! This thread got me thinking, I used to read a lot more when I traveled alone, like packing 4 paperbacks for a 2 week trip. Now sometimes these days I don't even bring a book along. I'm not sure if my interests have changed or just I am more comfortable traveling alone. Also I love to "read" newspapers or magazines in French or Spanish.

ok- not about restaurants but about reading...

has anyone tried those computer book deals. they appear to be the size of a normal book, and show one page at a time on a small flat screen. was wondering about that for a long trip since i believe you can load 80 books on to it or something like that.

Anyone actually tried reading full books on a computer screen? How'd it work out?
merci ;-)
