You can't curl up with an E Book in bed, that's for sure.

Unless it's a mandatory E Book required for course work, I avoid them. Just my 2cents.

My husband reads all the time and tried these for business travel - he hates them. Says looking at computer screen (which he does all day anyway) does something different eye-brain that makes it irritating to read.

And forget about it on anything cmaller than a computer screen (like PDA) - ones eyes take in more than that mini-length while reading.

Go to Amazon and buy paperbacks used and cheap and ditch them along the way. Restock at book stores, used or otherwise, along the way.

I don't know anyone who enjoys E Books for pleasure. Pack a reasonable amount and instead of souenirs, buy her some books while traveling.

Melissa, one more bit of advice...if your daughter is going through books at lightening speed, they may not be challenging enough for her. Just a thought.

How ironic--DH and I just had a discussion about the e book a couple of days ago because I love to take multiple books with me on trips which is obviously not always practical. So I am curious, too, and wonder if the screen bothers the eyes??

Sadly, I've found that I can't read books on the screen for very long and I eventually end up printing the e-book to read it. Kind of defeats the point, doesn't it?

Does you daughter have an MP3 player? If so she can download books for free from many public libraries. As of now the software will not work on IPOD's but she could borrow the books on CD and download them to her IPOD.

Great for travel, and I listen to books on CD in the car for longer trips.

I second CW and the idea of audio books! I got hooked to them thanks to my hour each way commute! I get most of mine through Barnes and Noble website. There is a bargain section that is up to 80% off(printed books or audio).Spend $25 and you get free shipping, which is always less than a week for me. I also have good luck on Ebay and half.com

So glad to hear that your daughter loves to read! So much more stimulating than having a Nintendo glued to her hands!

Haven't used them but I seem to remember that the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain has audio books that can be taken back to any restaurant in their chain.
