Digital memory cards & x-ray machines

What about potential damage to the memory card in my digital camera? Is it safe to run my camera through the x-ray machine, or does it need to be checked by hand like a "regular camera?"

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I've never had a problem in dozens of trips with digital media, including laptops. You'll be fine.

A memory card will not be affected by X-rays but you should take care to keep it away from magnetic sources or you will lose any information stored on it.

I assume you are carrying the camera, etc. in your carry-on. the x-ray machines at the security check won't have any ill effects, but i wouldn't dare put it in checked baggage. the bomb detection equipment for that is MUCH more powerful, nevermind the risk of theft.

Or you could always take out the memorycard from the camera and put it in your wallet...... and that you have to put on the desk before going through the magnetic "door"......
