40th birthday
Hi,
I am interested in doing a "big" trip for my 40th birthday, which is 1.5 years away. Need plenty of time to plan and save up the funds! Have not established a budget yet.
I am undecided as to whether or not it would be just me and the husband, or if I would also bring along our youngest, who will very close to 4 then.
I am looking at 7-10 days away if we bring the little one. If we travel without him, I would say 5 days. Flying out of Charlotte, NC. Would prefer a flight 6/7 hrs or less.
I want the trip to be memorable. Not looking for all inclusive. I don't like resorts. Nothing overly touristy. Not Mexico because I have been there many times already. Not England because we are going as a family Summer 2016. Looking for great food. Road less traveled. I have not traveled extensively and don't know where to focus.
The only thing that has come to mind as a possibility is Honduras - and even then I don't know where to look specifically.
Not sure what other info to provide, so just ask!
I appreciate any insight.
Thank you kindly.

Since Honduras is an interest, I would just get a few guidebooks from the library, and continue research on the internet to find out more about it (Trip Advisor, Fodor's, Lonely Planet).
I checked and see that flight times are the length you hoped for.

I'd repost your question here on the "Mexico & Central America" branch. Maybe you can pick up some answers from folks with specific Honduras experience.
Along with reading and posting on Trip Advisor and others.

Jan is pretty cold in Europe, so since you're in US, Hondurs does look nice.
Perso, we'l love to go and see Machu Pich etc, or Brazil..
We'd take the kid, because we have always taken our kids with us...
Ah, why not Cuba ? It is or will be ok in 1,5 years for US, no ? It is a fabulous country, people are extremely nice, lovely with the kids, safe and the landscape is beautiful.
