My inbox is a total mess after 3 weeks trekking. Solutions?

Hey, guys.

I have just returned from trekking the Annapurna circuit (Nepal) and I didn't check my email for almost three weeks. When I finally did I had more than 1500 unread emails. That really drives me crazy. I don't want to spend hours and hours checking my emails and at the same time I really don't want to miss something important. Do you have similar problems? Is there any usefull tool or app that organizes your email communication and sorts out your inbox? I am so fed up with spam ...

Thanks so much!!

When I am going to be without internet access I advise people NOT to send emails unless they are of great importance.

this seems like a question more for a computer forum. I guess we have all dealt with this and take some time deal with the important ones and in one fell swoop delete the rest.

Are you using an email program where you can sort by types (date, from, to, etc.)?

That's how I do it at work... categorize by "From" then delete a large number at the same time (highlighting 200 from the same advertiser/vendor and deleting all at once, for example).

schmerl, That idea only works for individuals. Most of what fills an email in box is stuff like from Amazon, newsletters, etc.

It does? What do you do, send out an email asking people not to send you emails? What if they're traveling and asked you not to send emails--do you still send your email asking them not to send emails?

I "unsubscribe" from all newsletters, etc. before I travel so I don't come home to a jammed inbox. YES...I send out an email asking people not to send me emails. I only send it to those people who usually send me a lot of emails.

1500 just isn't that many. It won't take "hours and hours" as long as you have an email program that can sort by categories (because you're deleting dozens at a time).
