Worth staying extra night in Buenos Aires, esp Monday night?

Hello,

We're planning to do a South America cruise that ends up in Buenos Aires, where we'll have Sunday and Monday in BA-- 2 days.. Is it worth it to stay one extra day (Tues) and fly out on Tuesday night, instead of flying out on Monday night? I read online that Buenos Aires is best on the weekend, so if it's pretty dead on Monday night, not sure it's worth staying longer, esp that we have to take extra time off from work (yeah, the plight of us American workers with limited vacation .

Please advise whether it's worth spending 3 days in Buenos Aires, esp if the extra days include Monday night and Tues.

Thank you!

Absolutely it's worth spending an extra day there. Three days would be even better. Things you could do would be to visit an estancia for the day, take a leisurely boat trip on the Tigre delta, shop for leather goods, etc.

Take a look at this: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/tr...anted=all&_r=0

There are pleny of things to do, even in weekdays. BA is one of the liveliest cities in the world. If you have the chance to spend some time there, I'd totally advise you to do it!

Thanks, all. We're going to stay in BA for 3 days -- Sunday morning til Tuesday late night.

We're interested in watching tango, but not in a professional show. Want to see local people doing it? Where to go? Any freebies?

Thanks

I had a terrific tango tour (to observe rather than participate) with Narrative Tango Tours. http://www.tangotoursba.com/
It is run by an American expat tango dancer/scholar who takes you at midnight to milongas (community dance halls) where the people watching and tango culture is fascinating. You can ask your hotel for the nearest milongas and go on your own for just the cost of a drink, but I believe it's worth it to go with Narrative Tour to appreciate the complicated, intriguing ritual.
