Argentina - BA plus??

Hi. My husband and I are going to BA for a week mid May. I wanted advice on what other 2-3 day excursions we could combine this with. On the site I have read about Iguazu Falls and Ushuaia. We reach BA Sat afternoon and have to be in BA Sun evening to Thurs evening. We have available 2-3 days after as we have to leave Argentina on the foll Sun. Suggestions please on where to go? Will ask for hotel and restaurant recos next! Thanks so much - so excited - first time to South America!

I don't think you have time to go anywhere as you most likely couldn't leave BA until Friday and would very likely have to be back Saturday for your Sunday flight. That's not a bad thing as you can easily spend weeks in Buenos Aires! You can do day excursions from BA if you like.

Search this forum for Buenos Aires and you will find hotel and restaurant recs. I wrote a report about our trip; we returned home ten days ago.

Cintia from WOW!Argentina booked our hotels and got us a better deal than we could have gotten on our own. I recommend that you contact her.

Argentina is a wonderful country and BA is great. I know you will enjoy your trip! We are planning to return.

Is it worthwile for us to go out to Iguazu for a night leaving Fri morning and returning either Sat night or Sun morning depending on our return flight? Also, I read about Posada palermo on this site as a cheaper option to Malabaia. Any feedback? Also I am considering Yacutinga in Iguazu as we gen like eco resorts - any feedback on this?

As Judi says most likely you can get a good hotel rate through a travel agent such as Cintia, which is excellent, so good that it might even be better than b&B. I am not familiar with the places you mention. The answer to the question if you can go for a short period of time to Iguazu is YES.
At the same time you could spend all the time in Buenos Aires because there are tons of things to do. We are talking of a big, cosmopolitan city, with an active life of its own.

there are flights in the morning, if you get the one at l0 you can enjoy the whole day in the falls and board the plane the following day in the early afternoon. In that case stay at the Sheraton.
Yacutinga is wonderful but very expensive Being so limited i would try to do sth else, i.e. stay in buenos aires city with one day in an estancia or in the delta or in Uruguay.
regards,

Thank u for your inuts. Uruguay is out as we do not have time to do more visas. I am trying to explore whether we can spend fri in BA then leave Sat morn for Iguazu and fly out directly from Iguazu without having to return to BA. Seems tough but let's see. I think we will have to fit Iguazu into this trip as seems a shame to miss it!

You don't need a visa for Uruguay if you are an American citizen.

You are right, Iguazu is not to be missed!
