Posada / Hostel near Quito Airport?
I have been scouring old posts and cannot find the name of the hostel I was planning to say at (and neglected to bookmark)
... bucolic surroundings, kind of hard to find, go for a walk in the morning - can any one help??
or other suggestions? - I have looked on TA but that site wears me down - l always seem to end up back here where all the happy people are...

First of all, you do know that the airport moved about a year ago, right? It's quite far outside the city now.
In relation to the former airport, are you thinking of the San Jorge Ecolodge?

Hi Jeff - thanks for answering - no, it was not a lodge, although I will be coming back for a few days after the Galapagos and do want to book some time in the cloud forest.
I have not decided which lodge yet though and now you've added another to the list !! - that will have to be another topic

Thank you mlgb- as you, I do try to book directly if I can and did talk to the owner. He brought the price down from $95 to $90 which was kind, however there was still the 12% gov tax on top of that rate plus the airport transfers- $30 round trip.
It's tough traveling solo, however I found another charming place - Posado Mirolindo - a double room with balcony for the single rate of $50 which includes the 12% tax and both airport transfers. No question which place I'm booking - the only downside is that at Su Merced the owner told me "the single room has the bad tube"
what is he going on about?
oh - the bath tub !!

That is funny!!!
I will keep that other place on my list, I feel lucky now to have stayed at Su Merced when I did. I thought at the time it was an amazing bargain. Oh well, good that they are successful enough not to need to discount. Pablo is such a great guy, I really enjoyed talking to him.
